Up until a year ago, I had not been on a bike for years. The cliche is true "it's like riding a bike", but riding a bike wasn't difficult; starting and stopping was my problem. So I beat up my K-Mart blue-llight-special-kids bike (I'm only 5' nothing) last summer and upgraded to a real bike this June. LOVE the Trek Verve 2. It's so lightweight, so sporty, comfortable, easy to steer, perfect size for my frame, smooth shifting,

So far I'm enjoying this Bike. The Gears shift nicely (just have to make sure you push them all the way). The handle bar is responsive. The ride is smooth. I'm a 62-year old female who hasn't been on a bike in years and getting back into it. The positioning for me is good/comfortable..not as upright as a cruiser/townie but not as bent over as more advanced bike. If you are looking for a casual ride, this could be the bike for you. I've only put in three 40-minute local neighborhood rides so far so keep that in mind when reading this review. The two criticisms I have are (a) the water bottle cage screws are too high up on the tube (I have a women's step thru) so you can only use a 12-oz bottle unless you don't mind that the cap pushes into the top), and (b) I didn't like the seat so my dealer upgraded me to a Specialized Women's Gel seat which I am really liking so far. The saddle that came with it, was pseudo leather but didn't seem as comfortable to me. I also changed out the hand grips to ergonometric ones as I personally felt the grips that came with the bike were a bit hard. But that's personal. So far I'm satisfied. The video description about this bike on Trek's web site seems accurate to me. When I get more mileage in, I can write a more informed review. Hope this is helpful to someone like me. P.S. My Bicycle Inc salesperson was very helpful and gave me good guidance in making my choice. (But I also did a bit of online shopping and test riding as well.)
